Terms of use

The plain version: this is a free guide to help you plan a journey. Check the details with the company you travel with, because timetables and fares change and they have the final word.

Who we are

gatwick.express is published by Gatwick Routes ("we", "us"), an independent UK publisher. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not rely on the site.

Information only

Everything here is general travel information, written to help you compare ways of getting between Gatwick Airport and London, Brighton, Heathrow and Croydon. It is not advice about your own trip, and our pick on a page is an opinion based on the figures shown, not a promise that it will suit you.

We are not an operator

We are an independent guide. We are not Gatwick Express, Govia Thameslink Railway, Southern, Thameslink, National Express, Gatwick Airport Ltd or any other transport company, and we are not affiliated with any of them. Any ticket or booking you buy is a contract between you and the company that sells it, on its terms.

That includes the Kiwitaxi booking box on some pages. A transfer you book in it is a contract between you and Kiwitaxi, on Kiwitaxi's terms (opens in a new tab); the price, the car, changes, cancellations and refunds are Kiwitaxi's to deal with, not ours. We earn a commission on such bookings, as set out on how we make money, and we are not a party to them.

The journey planner

The journey planner counts back from your flight using figures from this site, a delay margin taken from how trains on that corridor ran over the previous weeks, and Transport for London's journey planner for the tube leg. Past performance is not a promise about your train, and the margin is a rule of thumb, not a guarantee. A plan is a suggestion for you to check, not advice. Confirm times with the operator before you travel.

Figures are checked on the date shown

Each fare, journey time and first or last service on the site was read from a public source on the date printed beside it. We work to keep them current, but operators change fares, timetables and stopping patterns, and engineering work, strikes and disruption can change them at short notice. A figure marked unconfirmed has not yet been checked against the operator's own page, or its sources disagree; treat it with extra care.

Always confirm times, fares and ticket validity with the operator before you travel, and allow extra time when you have a flight to catch.

Calculators

The tools on the site work from the figures we have recorded and the details you enter. Their results are a guide, not a guarantee: they cannot see today's delays, queues at security or how long it takes you to reach the station. Build in a margin of your own.

Other companies and websites

We link to operators, the airport, National Rail and other sources so you can check what we say. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, prices, services or availability. Names such as Gatwick Express, Southern, Thameslink and National Express belong to their owners and appear here only to identify their services; their use does not mean those companies endorse or work with us.

Our liability

The site is free to use and is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from relying on it, including a missed flight or train, a fare that turned out higher than shown, or a service that did not run. That includes loss caused by information that was out of date, incomplete or wrong.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, your legal rights are not affected.

Using our content

The words, layout and design of this site are ours. You are welcome to link to any page and to quote short passages with a link back. Please do not copy whole pages, republish our tables or collect the site's content automatically.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the site changes, as we did when the Kiwitaxi box set out onhow we make money was added. The date at the top shows the latest version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
